Temple of Lilith 🌘 Banishing Spell of the Waning Moon

To be performed beneath the waning moon, before the darkness completes its work.

For the release of spirits, bindings, fears, unclean energies, or any force that must return to the dust.

🜁

What You Will Need:

  • A black candle or flame in an oil lamp

  • A clay bowl or copper basin with saltwater or river water

  • Bitumen, ash, or black salt

  • Two reeds, wooden sticks, or matchstick wands

  • Black wool, thread, or hair (for the binding)

  • A piece of parchment or papyrus

  • Cedar, myrrh, or sulfur incense

  • A cauldron or burn vessel

🌑

When to Perform It:

  • Waning moon

  • After sunset, beneath a fading sky

  • Facing West, where the sun dies and the dead rise

🜃Invocation to Ereshkigal, Lady of Depth and Silence

To be spoken at the beginning of the ritual, before any tools are touched.

O Ereshkigal, Lady of the Great Below,

You who dwell in the deep chamber,

You who know the hidden paths and the quiet power,

First Queen, Keeper of Boundaries,

I call to You under the waning sky.

You who gather what has been outworn,

You who see through illusion and shadow,

Come into this space of release.

Let Your silence surround it.

Let Your stillness bless it.

I do not come in fear but in truth.

I come not to beg, but to unbind.

As the moon gives away her light,

So do I give away what no longer walks with me.

O She who holds the wisdom beneath the surface,

Guide this working with Your unseen hand.

Receive what is no longer needed.

Make hollow what must be emptied.

Let what is tangled fall away.

Let what is false return to dustless wind.

Ereshkigal, Lady of the Sacred Depth,

I name You in stillness.

I honor You in the space between breaths.

Be with me as I soften, shed, and see.

This working is Yours to witness.

1. Light the Incense First

Strike the flame. Let the smoke curl like a serpent.

Say:

“I call upon the winds of the west,

Where the spirits walk, and the fire dims.

Let this smoke rise as my voice rises.

Let it carry my command to the ear of the dark one.”

2. Light the Black Candle or Oil Lamp

Let the flame be low and steady.

Say:

“This is the fire of decline,

The flame of endings, the eye of the waning moon.

As this fire fades, so too shall [name it] be diminished.”

3. Inscribe the Name of What Must Fall

Write the name or nature of what is to be banished on your parchment. Use charcoal, ink, or a stylus.

Say:

“I name you beneath the eye of the dark goddess.

I write you not to remember, but to cast you down.

Let the tablet bear your mark for the last time.”

4. Bind the First Reed with Black Wool

Wrap the wool tightly. Whisper the name or energy you are binding as you wrap.

Say:

“This is the thread of power no longer mine.

This is the knot of fear, of falsehood, of shadow.

By my will and the will of the underworld queen,

It is bound.”

5. Speak the Spell of Casting Down

Hold the parchment in one hand and the bound reed in the other.

Banishing Incantation (Priestess Style):

“O you who have clung to my breath,

O you who have drunk from my strength

Your time is ended.

By the law of Ereshkigal,

By the shadow of the horned moon,

By the black gate of the west

I command your return to dust.

Fall as the fig falls at season’s end.

Break as the reed breaks in the flood.

Dissolve as ash in the river.

You shall not cling to my name.

You shall not rise in my dreams.

You shall not pass through my threshold.

As the stars turn, so do I turn from you.

As the flame dies, so does your shape fade.

Return to your house beneath the earth.”

6. Break the Bound Reed

Snap it in half with both hands and drop it into the bowl of water.

Say:

“Your cords are snapped.

The gate closes behind you.”

7. Burn the Parchment

Light the edge in the black candle’s flame. Drop it into the cauldron or burn vessel.

Say:

“O fire, sacred tongue of the gods,

Consume this name. Let it be remembered no more.”

“As smoke rises, so let this be carried away.

As ash falls, so let this be forgotten.”

🜂

(English):

“Ereshkigal, mistress of the great below,

Let the hostile spirit be turned away,

Let the hand of peace remain,

Let the incantation strike true,

Let peace be planted—let peace arise.

You are returned to the earth.”

Repeat 3x, slow and steady, weaving your voice into the smoke.

🜄

Final Act of Burial or Offering

  • Let the ashes cool.

  • Pour the water with the broken reed at a tree, crossroads, or in a body of water.

  • Bury the ashes in the west, or scatter them into running water.

Closing Words:

“As the moon wanes, so wanes your hold.

As the wheel turns, so is this undone.

Return to dust, forgotten by the stars.

By my will and by the word, so it is.”
